Creative idea:
Curating an exhibition showcases visualizing the concept of time. This exhibition aims to suggest that time should not just the concept, applying the similar idea of money, why money can have clear ideation in people's minds. We can use money every day; we can know how much we still have, how much we paid, and whether it is worth with that amount of money… Time should also be applied to these ideas.
Creating “1 second of water” just like the idea of 1ml of water, but it is about the idea of capturing “time”. “1 second of water” representing 1 second to be the unit of time, using different materials to contain them, store them, capture them. We can through these materials to apply time. Shopping is an activity combined with time and money; we need time to walk for paying that money to buy what we like. These two are also the elements of the outcomes. Thus this is the ultimate venue for showing the photography.
Ideation:
Time should be available for quantization and visualization, or sometimes we should have a more “solid” concept or idea of time. Time is irreversible; once that second was passed, then it has gone.
Time should not just the concept, applying the similar idea of money, why money can have clear ideation in people mind. We can use money every day, and we can know that how much we still have, how much we paid, does it worth with that amount of money… Time should also be applied these ideas, we paid our time, we should measure does it worth to pay that amount of time on something... Time should also be quantified as money, has the certificates of “value”.
These outcomes are aiming to make “time” to be quantization and visualization. This artwork will produce “1 second of water”, just like the idea of 1ml of water, but it is about the idea of capturing “time”. For those water representing 1 second, I use different materials to contain them, store them, capture them. Using the idea of money to visualize time.
Production process
Prepare the materials for absorbing the “1 second” water.
Including wooden sticks, wooden plates, sponge.

Idea: Time can be visualized once the product of a making process duration is in time for the unit. When we captured 1sec of water, we can get the physical outcomes of time. Then we what we can do is similar as the idea of money has physical outcomes, we can store time, compress time, save time…

Venue selected: Hysan Place (希慎廣場)
Concept of the show: An exhibition showing how time can be visualized, reflection on the concept of time. Hysan Place is one of the best Hong Kong luxury shopping destinations located at the heart of Causeway Bay's Shopping District. Visitor can walk through this exhibition while they are shopping in this shopping mall. Shopping is an activity combined with time and money, and we need to spend to walk in the shopping mall. Also, we need money to buy any items we like. These two are the outcome elements; thus this is an ultimate venue for showing the photography.
Displays arrangement
Arrange the exhibition in the Hysan Place & Lee Theatre, which is the middle part of the main lobby in Hysan Place. The most crowded place in the shopping mall, then chance to show to more people is higher. The visitors of the shopping mall can easily have a look at the photography while they are shopping.
