Artist’s Statement:
“ArtSense: MemoryGrid” is a reflection of my journey through the vibrant and culturally rich city of London. During a summer study trip, I captured 600 images that not only document the places I visited but also the emotions and thoughts I experienced. This piece transforms these images into an AI-generated visualization, creating a digital tapestry that weaves together memories and impressions. By exploring how art and technology intersect outside of Hong Kong, I aim to present a broader perspective on creativity and innovation.
Concept and Inspiration:
The inspiration for “ArtSense: MemoryGrid” came from my desire to merge personal experiences with technological advancements. The summer study trip to London was a profound experience that opened my eyes to different artistic techniques and technological developments. This piece is not just a visual diary but a dynamic representation of how memories can be transformed through AI, creating new forms of artistic expression.
Process and Techniques:
• Image Collection: The 600 images used in this piece were carefully selected from thousands of photos taken during the study trip. These images capture a wide range of scenes, from iconic landmarks to everyday moments.
• AI Processing: Using advanced AI algorithms, the images were analyzed and processed to create a cohesive visual narrative. The AI techniques include image recognition, clustering, and generative adversarial networks (GANs) to produce unique visual effects.
• Visualization: The final visualization is a seamless flow of images that transition smoothly, representing the fluidity of memories. The colour palette and visual style were chosen to evoke the atmosphere and emotions of the trip.
